GENERATIVE ART PORTRAIT

Can a software, consisting of a set of specific rules, algorithms and functions show visual art forms?

Yes, it can! It is possible to teach a software, using creative art processes and synthesis to manipulate images, to catch the forms and to make them shapely and expressive.

Thanks to the generative art works can be carried out some works, such as portraits and landscapes through the use of a software.

My name is Fabio Ferrarini , after several searches I managed to transform portraits and landscapes into works of art. This is possible by applying specific algorithms for image processing, using programming "Processing".

The software creates different graphic patterns (texture), formed by a sequence of intricate lines, which we commonly call “Doodle” (formless). Generative portraits are reinvented thanks to the magic of the algorithms.

The mathematical precision, usually applied in computer programming, becomes here an irrational randomness.

The key algorithm for the work art creation divide the photographic image into areas, each of which search the dark areas identified with a point, and then draws lines connecting individual paragraphs found.

The procedure to obtain such lines with the "irrational traits" that create the art work.

The resulting effect is two-fold depending on the distance from which you look at the work: seen at close it is a tangle of lines, while seen at far the tangle adopts the shape of the original image in his dark-light and three-dimensional depth.

The processing performed by the software comes alive on paper through the use of a "polargraph" machine that receives the code generated by the software, and moving through a mechanical system, draws the Doodle with an ink pen to complete the sequence of the code received.

The application of such a system can perform works even on large surfaces (murals and painting theatrical scenery).
